ABOUT US

Vision: To build an active, inclusive LSR-7 community that advocates for and supports equitable public schools that serve all students well.

Mission: To strengthen the culture of public education in LSR-7 by advocating for the needs of the “whole child” through community advocacy and collective action.

Values:

  • Commitment to equity

  • Student-centered public education

  • Active communities

Background: Strengthening Education Together (SET) began because a group of motivated mothers in Lee’s Summit, Missouri refused to settle for the inequitable status quo that is our current public education system. We believe all young people deserve access to a free, equitable, high-quality education. However, we know that far too many young people, especially those of marginalized identities and cultures, are not thriving in the current system. This needs to change, because our future leaders deserve better.

Doin’ the Work: We know that in order to achieve lasting and substantial gains, we need significant policy change by elected officials and leaders who represent their communities and who are committed to serving us all well. We SET the intention to strengthen and improve the culture of public education by supporting and electing candidates who share our values of commitment to equity, student-centered public education, and active communities. Our work will be grounded in these values and will determine the candidates and issues that we support moving forward. We cannot do this work alone. Join us!
